Video Card Compatibility.?

Ok, So i Just Recently Figured out that i have a PCI Express x16 Slot inside my computer. But all the cards i see around now all have PCI express 2.0 slots. Will a PCI Express 2.0 card work in my PCI Express x16 Slot? I have the motherboard DG31PR Intel Motherboard with Quad Processor. So just wondering.
