Video card compatibility with my motherboard ?

How do i know if the video card am getting is compatible with my new motherboard or not ? i had this problem once i dont wana repeat the same drama :/ .. please help !

Motherboard : Asus M4A89GTD PRO

Video cards am wondering about its compatibility : MSI HD 5770 1GB HAWK

Sapphire HD 5770 1GB Vapour-X , Sapphire HD 5770 1GB

NOTE !!! : i checked ASUS website for the compatible video cards and those werent listed although the motherboard supports PCI-E 2.0 version and its new motherboard that has many features ,, am guessing they cant just list all the video cards in the world lol .. but i really wana know i dont wana waste money .. ty !|||They are compatible.

All modern motherboards have PCI-e 2.0 x16 slots for graphics cards, and all modern cards such as the HD 5770 have PCI-e 2.0 x16 connectors.

As long as the connector fits the slot, you are good to go.

The only time there is a motherboard limitation is if you run multiple GPUs in SLI or Crossfire.

Your motherboard supports Crossfire, so that means if you wanted to run 2 GPUs at the same time, you would need to use 2 similar Radeon cards. You would not be able to use 2 Nvidia cards.

The opposite is true for SLI. SLI supports 2 or more Nvidia cards, but not 2 or more ATI cards.

However, if you are just running one GPU, then any card of any brand would work so long as connector and slot are compatible.
